CHEEK FILLERS

Several visual signs of aging are linked to volume loss. Skin volume diminishes over time, resulting in wrinkles and creases. Ligaments become loose and fatty tissue moves downward, giving the cheeks a flat and hollow appearance.

What are cheek fillers used for?

What are cheek fillers used for?

Cheek fillers replenish lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and restore a fuller, younger look.

The following are three reasons why individuals may want cheek filler:

  1. Age-related volume loss
The cheeks appear deflated and less prominent. With aging, fat pads shrink and tissue elasticity declines, resulting in a loss of volume in the midface. Fillers can help restore volume, giving you a more youthful appearance.
  2. Prominent nasolabial fold
As the cheeks and the jowls sag, the nasolabial folds, or smile lines around the lips, become more visible.
  3. Improvement in appearance

What are the Ingredients in Fillers?

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in your skin to keep it plump and moisturized. HA fillers are often soft and gel-like in texture.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that is present primarily in our bones. Calcium hydroxylapatite, which is normally used for deeper lines and wrinkles, is also described to help increase natural collagen formation. Radiesse®, for example, is an FDA-approved CaHA filler.

Poly-L-lactic Acid

Products made with Poly-L-lactic acid are categorized as "collagen stimulators" since they aid in the regeneration of natural collagen in the skin. Poly-L-lactic acid is commonly used to repair deeper face wrinkles, with benefits lasting up to two years. Sculptra® Aesthetic is a Poly-L-lactic acid filler that the FDA has authorized.

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

PMMA is used in dermal fillers in the form of a "microsphere" or small ball that stays beneath the skin permanently to provide consistent support. Collagen, which offers structure and density, will also be used in PMMA fillers. Bellafill® (previously known as Artefill) is one of the FDA-approved PMMA fillers.

To ensure your safety, always seek FDA-approved, brand-name fillers, which are only accessible from a qualified physician, such as a board-certified cosmetic surgeon.

What happens during a cheek filler treatment?

Cheek filler injections are non-invasive and usually performed during a visit to the doctor's office. Your initial treatment will begin with a consultation with your doctor, during which you will discuss your issues and goals. Your doctor can then decide the appropriate quantity and kind of cheek filler to be used based on this information.

After cleaning, marking, and preparing the area prior to injection, you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the treatment site. Many filler products also include lidocaine, a mild anesthetic that can help you feel more relaxed before and after your procedure. The filler will then be carefully injected beneath the skin by your provider.

A needle, a cannula, or a combination of both methods is used to inject filler. The cheek filler procedure takes around 30 minutes.

What is the expected recovery time after cheek filler treatment?

You may experience some minor swelling and bruising following your cheek filler procedure. This normally goes away after a week or so. It's critical to follow your doctor's post-treatment instructions.

When will I see the results of my cheek filler treatment?

The results of a cheek filler procedure can be noticed almost immediately. Once the swelling has subsided, the final results will be obvious, usually 7-14 days following the treatment.

How much does cheek filler cost?

The amount of cheek filler injected determines the cost. After a thorough evaluation and discussion concerning your cosmetic goals, your doctor will decide on the necessary volume. During your consultation, you will be provided a precise quotation.

How long will my results last?

The effects of a cheek filler treatment might last anywhere from 12 to 18 months. However, this varies depending on the individual and the product utilized. To maintain the results, touch-up sessions may be necessary.

Are there any side effects associated with dermal fillers?

After your treatment, you may have some minor swelling or bruising for a few days. However, this is a rare occurrence that may be remedied by using cold packs. Dermal filling has a short recovery period and virtually no downtime.
