8 Things You Need To Know About Getting Lip Fillers

Answers to 8 common questions about Lip Fillers

Lip fillers are some of the most popular treatments here at Aesthetiq Institute. We've heard every question you can think of on this subject. Let's go over the eight most popular ones.

1) What are the best lip fillers?

Everyone's face is different — the same goes for beauty goals. The best lip fillers for you would be the ones that meet your specific requirements.

Of course, there are some leading treatments. We recommend Juvéderm and Restylane for many of our patients. These are hyaluronic acid injections with the following benefits:

  • Six (6) to eight (8) months of effectiveness
  • Little to no downtime
  • Reversible
  • No side effects
  • Minimally invasive (just an injection)
  • Maintainable with top-up injections of about 1/2 mL

Hyaluronic Acid (HA for short) treatments are not the only option, however. If you are interested, just reach out to us and we can different types of lip fillers.

2) Do fillers hurt?

Most of our patients will tell y ou that filler injections don't hurt much at all as we numb the area fully before starting. Some of our clients have compared the level of discomfort to getting their eyebrows threaded.

3) How much do fillers cost?

Filler injections will vary when it comes to cost. The brand that you choose, the location of the injection and the number of injections will all be taken into account when generating the final price.

Currently, cosmetic injectables at the Aesthetiq Institute Med Spa start at $649. We have taken the consumer's needs into account, as the same treatment can cost around $1,000 elsewhere. These are just estimates. The best way to get the right price is to have a personal consultation.

4) Do fillers have side effects?

There are a couple of things you should avoid before going in to get any type of cosmetic procedure. Try to avoid blood thinners, such as aspirin, before your appointment. Even multi-vitamins and vitamin E can increase your risk of bruising — always check with your doctor if there's any doubt whatsoever.

5) Are there alternatives to fillers?

There are many ways to get fuller, poutier lips. Few are as versatile and effective as injectables.  The so-called lip flip is probably the most famous example of filler alternatives. Your medical aesthetician should be able to fill you in on what would be the best for your facial structure and beauty goals.

6) How long does the procedure take?

Injectable lip fillers are quick. The typical appointment takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish.

7) Do fillers make your lips feel different?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) occurs naturally in your body. It holds many times its own weight in water, so your lips will probably feel firm and plump to the touch from this extra moisture. Eating, talking, cleansing and even kissing should feel about the same.

8) Can fillers look natural?

We always encourage our patients to start out with a natural look. You can move towards more pronounced fill techniques when you feel comfortable.
